ABOUT THE ROLE 

PLANiT Construction is looking for an Estimator. If you got what it takes to join our team, we are excited and looking for an Estimator in the GTA, Montreal, Florida area. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES: 
  • Perform the necessary work to provide costs and valuations on various RFP'S.
  • Discern the scope of works to be bid for preparation of bidders' lists and tender invitations.
  • Communicate with trade partners and team members looking at new and current projects
  • Review; assess cost estimates for preparation of divisional cost analysis.
  • Establish and maintain working relationships with vendors and subcontractors. 
  • Review all final appraisal packages to ensure accuracy and completeness, prior to formal submission and recommendation to be delivered on time. 
  • Review and communicate request for information to clients. 
TASKS:
  • Preparation of detailed quantity take-offs from tender documents and proposals. 
  • Distribution of tender documents to Sub Contractors for quotation. 
  • Site visits with bidding sub trades as required. 
  • Conduct Risk Assessments, and look for opportunities for avoidance. 
  • Qualify and analysis of trade prices for divisional comparison. 
  • Prepare materials, labor and equipment cost estimates necessary to successfully carry out a construction project according to proposals, plans, estimates and specifications.
  • Produce specification bid documents. 
  • Establish unit costs, labor rates. 
  • Create and present reports to upper management. 
  • Obtain bid RFP bonding requirements if required 
  • Make sure to note any long lead items on bids. 
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIRMENTS: 
  • 3 years' experience in construction estimating
  • Ability to read and interpret building specifications, plans. 
  • Proficiency with MS Word and Excel, Microsoft Project. 
  • Able to multi-task and meet strict deadlines. 
  • Impeccable problem-solving skills. 
  • Effective communication skills. 
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.
  • Traveling may be required. 

Management

Project Coordinator


Type: Full Time
ABOUT THE ROLE
PLANiT Construction is looking for a Project Coordinator. If you got what it takes to join our team, we are excited and looking for a Project Coordinator in the GTA, Montreal, Florida area.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS - PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Assist the Project Team in all phases and aspects of the project.
  • Prepare and/or obtain required documents from sub-contractors, clients, landlord and city building department.
 PROJECT SET UP:
  • Review contract documentation and become familiar with terms & conditions. 
  • Review drawings and specifications to identify long lead times and critical path items. 
  • Ensure that proper tools are in place prior to the beginning of a project. 
  • Work to obtain all necessary permits as requested by the PM 
  • Assist PM in the development of the overall project schedule and distribute. 
  • Prepare and assist with pre-installation meetings. 
  • Complete sub evaluations/comparisons of bids, scope review as requested by PM. 
  • Ensure subcontractors have latest scopes of works and create and send POs to sub-contractors while ensuring contracts, insurance, and bonds are current and received before subcontractor performs any work on site. 
OPERATIONS:
  • Keep field team members (i.e. Superintendent) informed and active in decision-making. 
  • Promote positive subcontractor relations by dealing professionally and fairly with all subcontractors 
  • Follow up on collection of all non-received documents and escalate any issues to the PM. 
  • Attend weekly project meetings as requested by PM and keep detailed meeting minutes for publishing to project team
  • Review project logs with Superintendent on a weekly basis. 
  • Pursue and monitor submittals and track deliveries of materials. 
  • Process and issue change orders as directed by the Project Manager in compliance with financial controls and policies. 
  • Perform timely reconciliation of subcontracts, payments processed, and outstanding issues; ensuring subcontracts are reconciled and completed as their work on the project is completed. 
  • Ensure and review with Project Manager client billing is prepared on a regular basis and in compliance with timelines. 
  • Responsible to ensure all information and supporting information for contracts, billing, change orders, subcontracts, and payment notifications are up to date. 
  • Verify all submittal conformity to plans & specifications. 
  • Collect superintendent daily reports, weekly project pictures and safety documentation. 
  • Collect subcontractor changes for review by the PM. 
  • Distribute all punch lists and the follow-up as necessary to ensure timely completion of punch list work. 
  • Ensure all project closure documents, procedures, client deliverables, and project experience documents are completed in an accurate and timely manner 
  • Document feedback from lessons learned sessions 
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIRMENTS: 
  • 3+ years' experience in construction. 
  • An understanding of the construction business and the ability to work to deadlines in a fast-paced environment are important. 
  • Excellent communication skills, ability to maintain positive interactions in any circumstances'. 
  • Ability to read and interpret building specifications, and plans. 
  • Proficiency with MS Word and Excel, Microsoft Project. 
  • Effective communication skills. 
  • 95% - Office work, clean environment with occasional site visit as required. 
  • Must possess a valid driver's license. 

Project Manager

ABOUT THE ROLE 

PLANiT Construction is looking for a Project Manager. If you got what it takes to join our team, we are excited and looking for a Project Manager in the GTA, Montreal, Florida area. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS - PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES: 
  • Manage all facets of the project and parties involved including Project Coordinators, Site Supervisors, Client and Sub-Contractors. 
  • Ensures overall project planning, time management, manage budget and communication. 
  • Ensure all administrative documentation with clients, site supervisors and subcontractors are completed. 
  • Ensure Quality Control in all areas of project. 
 PLANNING; 
  • Work with Site Supervisors and Project Coordinators on ensuring that all projects are delivered on-time, within scope and within budget. 
  • Conduct Risk Assessments, and look for opportunities for avoidance. 
  • Develop a detailed project plan to track progress. 
  • Review field issues and opportunities with the Management Team and Site Supervisors for the formulation of possible solutions. 
  • Ensure that corporate health & safety procedures, job site security, and safety standards are implemented and followed. 
  • Ensure job reporting and documents are obtained, submitted correctly and on-time. 
 TIME MANAGEMENT: 
  • Follow up to make sure that job schedules are being respected and project is on track. 
  • Track change orders and track leads as to require reporting that includes daily logs of trades on site and daily progress.
  • Ensures material and equipment are scheduled to accommodate various sites. 
MANAGE BUDGET: 
  • Ensure manpower is effectively coordinated and material purchases stay in line schedule and budgets. 
  • Ensure that invoicing for projects is up to date, and reflect work in place. 
  • Clearly communicate by e-mail, invoicing timelines and invoicing instructions to the accounting department. 
  • Approve supplier and subcontractor invoices for accounting department while ensure they correspond and reflect client payment terms. 
COMMUNICATION: 
  • Ensure that Site Super job descriptions are enforced. 
  • Train and mentor teams, estimators and project coordinators. 
  • Communicate daily with Site Supers; verbal, written, through clear and concise daily report, tracking change orders, progress reports, shortages and other issues as assigned. 
  • Complete a weekly report and give it to the Management Team and the client where required. 
  • Ensure Management Team is aware of any problems, ensuring to loop them in by e-mail when dealing with contentious issues at hand. 
  • Be prepared with viable solutions/alternatives to resolve issues or reoccurring problems. 
  • Ensure that all communications with clients are in an email form. After a conference call, ensure to follow up with written e-mail summarizing decision, agreement and/or amendment points that were agreed on. 
  • Ensure positive communications with all persons associated with the project; both internal / external partners. 
  • Ensure and distribute all punch lists with Site Supervisor and the subcontractors for follow-up as necessary to ensure timely completion of punch list work with. 
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIRMENTS: 
  • 7+ years experience in construction. 
  • PMP or an equivalent certification would be considered an asset. 
  • An understanding of the construction business and the ability to work to deadlines in a fast-paced environment are important. 
  • Excellent communication skills, ability to maintain positive interactions in any circumstances. 
  • Highly organized. 
  • Ability to read and interpret building specifications, blueprints and as-builds. 
  • Proficiency with MS Word and Excel, Microsoft Project. 
  • Effective communication skills. 
  • Must possess a valid driver's license. 

Site Supervisor

ABOUT THE ROLE 

PLANiT Construction is looking for a Site Supervisor. If you got what it takes to join our team, we are excited and looking for a Site Supervisor in the GTA, Montreal, Florida area. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS - PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES: 
  • The Site Supervisor will be responsible to coordinate sub-contractor schedules, ensure sub-contractor timeliness of execution, ensure safety measures are fully implemented and adhered to, liaise with the respective project manager, sub-contractors, municipal building & permit departments, and complete projects respecting strict deadlines, within budget, and coordinating efforts of team members and sub-contractors. 
  • Ensure Quality Control in all areas of project.

  • Leadership to drive all projects on time and on budget; 
  • Great management and communication skills with labor, sub-trades and suppliers; 
  • Ensure our strict quality standards are always met; 
  • Applicants must have strong background and proven experience in the construction industry.
